It’s October! As the veil thins, and chill wraps around us, we’re looking through the eyes of 
Scituate’s most heroic duo, the Bates Sister’s, Rebecca and Abigail for our three card spread. This legendary pair is said to have defended Scituate from potential invasion by the British with their ingenuity and quick action. In charge of the lighthouse while their father, light keeper Simeone Bates was away, the girls were tasked with maintaining watch over Scituate Harbor. They were alarmed to see barges filled with British soldiers being launched from a British frigate. They knew British raiding parties had sacked towns along the New England coast. The two sisters took up a fife and drum and loudly played them while hiding in the cedar trees. The British troops thought they were coming upon the Scituate Militia and beat a hasty retreat. The legend of the “American Army of Two” was created. Scituate Lighthouse is now owned by the town and operated by the Scituate Historical Society. Over the years, there have been reports of music from a fife and drum mixing in with the sounds of the wind and the waves crashing on the jetties leading into Scituate Harbor.

Whatever brings you together and bonds you tighter is what is needed now.
Bravery & Inspiration – How does our courage show up, and where can we find sparks of inspiration to carry us forward? THE MAGICIAN – The literal definition of inspiration and manifestation! Your creativity is giving you a huge boost this month! Prune the late season blooms for a seasonal arrangement, join a pumpkin painting or candle making class.
